About Pediatrics

[To patients]

Kitano Hospital's Pediatrics Department is staffed with pediatricians (including pediatric staff with at least six years of post-graduation experience) who are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to respond to emergency outpatient needs. Even at night or on holidays, tests can be performed to determine whether immediate hospitalization is necessary. We also work with the Pediatric Surgery Department to handle illnesses that require emergency surgery.
When visiting the hospital, please contact the hospital main number 06-6312-1221.

*We cannot treat external injuries. Accidental ingestion of foreign objects or head injuries will be treated by the Emergency Department or Neurosurgery Department.

[To all private practitioners]

We are always happy to accept children who require further examination and hospitalization.
If you have any questions, please contact the hospital's main number: 06-6312-1221.

[To all private obstetricians]

At Kitano Hospital's NICU, a driver is on standby during the following hours and a dedicated doctor's car is available to pick up and transport babies.
Weekdays: 9:00-24:00. If you can transport the baby, we can also accept it at other times.
If you have any questions, please contact the dedicated number for newborn transport.

*If we are fully booked, we may decline your request. In that case, we will contact the transport system.

Greetings

Our department employs specialists in a wide range of pediatric fields (immunology/allergy, infection, hematology/oncology, cardiology/circulatory system, premature infants/neonates, neurology, endocrinology/metabolism) and offers specialized outpatient services, primarily in the afternoons, to provide highly specialized, cutting-edge medical care. At the same time, off-hours care is essential due to the high incidence of fevers and seizures among children at night. Our department also focuses on pediatric emergency care, with two to four pediatricians on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, including holidays and nights, to ensure the proper treatment of all pediatric emergency patients. We also have four quasi-PICU (pediatric intensive care unit) beds in our ward, providing advanced intensive care for critically ill patients. As one of Osaka's core hospitals, we serve as a secondary pediatric emergency transport center and a destination for premature infants and newborns transported through the Osaka Neonatal Medical Mutual Assistance System (NMCS), and we aim to further enhance our medical system and continue to play a key role in pediatric emergency care in Osaka to meet your expectations.

About treatment

NICU(Neonatal Intensive Care Unit)

At Kitano Hospital Pediatrics DepartmentNICU12floor,GCU6We have a separate floor where we provide medical care for babies who require support shortly after birth.

To all local obstetricians

NICU doctor24We are on standby for 24 hours and can provide advanced treatments such as hypothermia therapy for severe asphyxia, nitric oxide inhalation therapy for seriously ill children, and pediatric surgical diseases.100We have received over 100 referrals. In the case of emergency transport of a newborn, please contact the dedicated number for newborn transport. We not only aim to ensure the newborn survives without any sequelae, but also place importance on accurate diagnosis rather than leaving the cause as "unknown." Our team of nurses, clinical psychologists, rehabilitation staff, and medical social workers also work together to provide support to families who are forced to separate their mother and child. We will always strive to ensure that you are glad that you transported your child to Kitano Hospital, so we appreciate your continued support.

Our hospital is also certified as a training site for neonatal resuscitation promotion activities, and we regularly hold instructor training courses and on-site seminars for local private practitioners.

Our "on-site training courses" are held in the same place where resuscitation is normally performed, using the same equipment as usual, and attended by regular staff, and have been well received.

NICUTo the families of babies hospitalized in

NICU stands for "intensive care unit for babies." We take care of babies who are born prematurely and are small, babies who need treatment for infections or respiratory problems, and babies who need surgery soon after birth.24We provide medical care on a timely basis.

We understand that families are filled with anxiety when their baby is hospitalized, but together we will help you overcome each and every obstacle. We will take good care of your baby so that he or she can be discharged in good health as soon as possible.
