Director of the Cancer Treatment Center
Kojiro Taura
Cancer is the leading cause of death in Japan, and it is said that "about one in two people will develop it in their lifetime." However, in recent years, advances in treatment have increased the number of treatment options available.
On the other hand, cancer treatment requires not only specialized treatment but also a comprehensive medical system that spans across medical departments and divisions. In addition to surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy, multidisciplinary support is crucial, including palliative care, counseling, rehabilitation, and nutritional guidance.
Therefore, our hospital has established a "Cancer Treatment Center" to provide comprehensive physical, mental, and social support to our patients.
As a designated cancer treatment center in Osaka Prefecture, we play a central role in the region, striving to provide and standardize high-quality cancer care. In addition to establishing a radiation therapy center, chemotherapy center, and palliative care center, we have introduced advanced medical technologies such as precise diagnosis using FDG-PET and robot-assisted surgery using the da Vinci Xi. Furthermore, we actively engage in education and research, and contribute to the improvement of cancer care throughout the region by applying the results to clinical practice.
Furthermore, the Cancer Consultation and Support Center provides support to patients and their families, addressing their various concerns and connecting them with appropriate assistance. The consultation desk is located on the first floor, creating an easily accessible environment. Please feel free to speak to us if you have any anxieties or questions.
In addition, our hospital employs many doctors who have completed palliative care training courses in accordance with national training programs.
