How to use medicine correctly

Use your medicines correctly

Please follow the instructions and dosage carefully and use your medication correctly. Take your medication with water or lukewarm water. If you do not follow the instructions and dosage, the medication may not be effective or you may experience unexpected side effects.

Do not give or receive medicine from other people

Prescribed medications belong to you. Do not give your own medication to others or take someone else's medication to use. Medications are prescribed after diagnosing each patient's symptoms and constitution. Please do not give medications to family or friends because "they have similar symptoms" or "it worked well." Not only will they be ineffective, but they may also cause unexpected side effects.

How to store medicines

Store the medicine in a cool place away from direct sunlight and away from high temperatures and humidity. Also, keep it out of the reach of children.
Some medications need to be stored in the refrigerator. When storing them in the refrigerator, be sure not to let them freeze.

Don't forget to take your medicine

In order to correctly judge the effectiveness of your medication, please take it properly and let us know at your appointment if you forget to take it.

When you forget to take your medicine

If you forget to take your medicine close to the time of your original dose, you can take it as soon as you remember. If you realize you missed a dose too late, or it's almost time for your next dose, don't take the missed dose and wait until the next dose. Do not take two doses at once just because you missed one dose. This may cause side effects. The response may vary depending on the medication, so it's a good idea to ask your doctor or pharmacist in advance.

If you have leftover medicine

If you have leftover medication at home, please consult your doctor or a pharmacist at your "family pharmacy." The pharmacy will check the condition and quantity of your medication, and can adjust the number of days you've prescribed it or take measures to prevent you from forgetting to take it.
Please bring any leftover medicines to your pharmacy and ask for advice.

Outpatient prescriptions

As a general rule, outpatient prescriptions at our hospital are treated as outside prescriptions.

Expiration date of outpatient prescription

The expiration date is four days, including the date of issue. Please be sure to take it to a dispensing pharmacy and collect your medication within the expiration date. Please note that if the expiration date has passed, you will need to visit the pharmacy again.

Display of test values

The minimum necessary clinical test values are displayed on outpatient prescriptions. This allows the dispensing pharmacy to check whether the appropriate amount of medication has been prescribed and whether any side effects have occurred. We appreciate your understanding in order to provide safer drug treatments and prevent and detect side effects early.

Generic drugs

Generic drugs (also called generic drugs) are drugs that are sold after the patents of original drugs (new drugs) have expired, and have the same active ingredients and the same efficacy and effects as the original drugs. (There are also generic drugs that have only some of the efficacy and effects of the original drugs.)
They are cheaper than original drugs, have the same effectiveness and safety as original drugs, and are widely used.

When getting a prescription outside the hospital, if there is no instruction that "changing to generic drugs is not allowed," it is possible to have the medicine dispensed as a generic drug at a dispensing pharmacy. Also, for some medicines for which generic drugs are available, if you wish to be prescribed the original drug, a special fee will be required. "Family Pharmacy"

At the "Family Pharmacy," you can keep track of all your medication records, including those prescribed by other hospitals and over-the-counter medications, and check for prescription details, any remaining medication, and any side effects.
Let's create a "family pharmacy" where you can feel free to consult about medicines and health at any time.

Drug Adverse Reaction Relief System

Even if a medication is used correctly, side effects can occur. If a serious health problem occurs due to a side effect that requires hospitalization despite proper medication use, there is a public system called the "Drug Adverse Reaction Relief System" that provides medical expenses, pensions, etc.

For details on the system outline and procedures, please seePharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Agency websitePlease check.

In addition, our pharmacist has provided an explanation on YouTube, so please take a look.
