This is a congenital condition in which abdominal organs protrude into the umbilical cord. The difficulty of treatment varies depending on the organ that has protruded. In some cases, it may be accompanied by other malformations of the diaphragm, sternum, heart, urinary system, or reproductive organs. Recently, it has been discovered through fetal diagnosis, in which case a treatment plan must be drawn up before birth by obstetrics, neonatology, and pediatric surgery.

If the protruding organs are small, they can be returned to the abdomen and the abdominal wall closed in one operation. However, if the protruding organs are large, they cannot be returned to the abdomen in one operation. In that case, they are returned to the abdomen little by little using various methods.
