allergic diseases

Allergic diseases have been on the rise in recent years, with atopic dermatitis, food allergies, bronchial asthma, and allergic rhinitis commonly seen in childhood, with a prevalence rate said to be 10-20%.
We strive to provide treatment that is appropriate for each child, based on treatment and management guidelines and responding to individual symptoms.
Our department has several full-time allergy specialists certified by the Japanese Allergy Association, so please feel free to consult with us.

Our treatment policy

Atopic dermatitis

The pillars of treatment are good skin care, drug therapy such as applying moisturizers and steroids and taking antihistamines orally, and identifying causes and aggravating factors and taking measures to address them and improving the environment.

food allergies

With reference to blood tests, we identify the food causing the problem and eliminate it to the minimum extent necessary. Food challenge tests (either inpatient or outpatient) are conducted to confirm tolerance (whether the patient can eat the food) so that the eliminated foods can be removed at the appropriate time.

anaphylaxis

Severe, systemic allergic reactions are called anaphylaxis. They are treated promptly in the emergency room and, if necessary, hospitalization is also possible.

bronchial asthma

The severity of the condition will be assessed and management will focus on inhaled steroids and anti-leukotriene receptor antagonists. It is important to provide preventative treatment to prevent coughing, rather than responding after a cough has started. In addition to drug therapy, environmental improvement and physical fitness are also important. In the event of an acute exacerbation (attack), inhaled bronchodilators and intravenous administration of steroids will be administered, and hospitalization may be required depending on the condition.

Allergic rhinitis

The main treatment is medication, such as oral antihistamines or nasal drops. We also use blood tests to identify the environmental factors that may be causing the problem, and incorporate lifestyle advice and immunotherapy.
