Our hospital began offering robot-assisted hysterectomy (robot-assisted total hysterectomy) for benign conditions such as uterine fibroids under health insurance coverage in October 2019. Robot-assisted surgery allows for surgical manipulation using a 3D view, and the robotic arms enable safe surgical procedures that are difficult to perform with conventional laparoscopy. Furthermore, we also began offering robot-assisted surgery for endometrial cancer in October 2021. However, as robot-assisted surgery is still relatively new, we approach each surgery cautiously with a team consisting of certified robot-assisted surgeons, certified laparoscopic surgeons from the Japan Society of Gynecological Endoscopy, and specialists from the Japan Society of Gynecologic Oncology.
