Have you ever heard the saying, "Children are not miniature adults"?
Pediatric anesthesia was first established in Japan over half a century ago. Since then, it has developed into a specialized field and is now highly safe.
Children require special consideration beyond just their physical growth.
Once surgery is scheduled, the anesthesiology department will hand you a medical questionnaire and ask you detailed questions about your child, from birth to recent events. Please fill out the detailed questionnaire as it is necessary to understand your child's condition and provide safe and appropriate anesthesia.
To minimize anxiety when children enter the operating room, we have them watch an animated DVD and have them smell a fruit-scented mask. Young children may be accompanied by a parent or given a drowsy medication beforehand. Once the anesthesia has taken effect and the child is asleep, an injection (infusion) is administered.
We will administer anesthesia to your child during surgery and strive to ensure pain relief after surgery.
Our hospital is staffed by certified pediatric anesthesiologists who provide safe and appropriate anesthesia for children.
