Departments
Bright red blood or black vomit suggests bleeding from the esophagus, stomach, or duodenum. This condition is sometimes seen in children.
There are various causes, including reflux esophagitis, esophageal varices, gastric or duodenal ulcers, and gastritis.
Children can also develop the disease due to stress or Helicobacter pylori infection.
This often occurs when there is disease of the liver or portal vein, and testing should be carried out immediately.

duodenal ulcer
If the bleeding is light, we may monitor it, but if it is heavy or continues for a long time, we will need to go and find the cause. The examination will be the same as for adults, with a gastroscopy.

Esophageal varices
Children's gastroscopy and colonoscopy
At our hospital, with the cooperation of our gastroenterology department, we are able to perform gastrointestinal endoscopy on newborns and older. Endoscopy can be very frightening for children. However, it is an absolutely necessary test for diagnosing and treating illnesses. To make endoscopic examinations for children as painless as possible, we work with our anesthesiology department to ensure that the examination and treatment are performed while the patient is asleep. Please feel free to consult us about gastrointestinal endoscopy for children.
