Normally, the umbilical cord will dry out and fall off naturally once the blood flow is cut off. However, if the blood flow is good, part of the cord may remain near the belly button, looking like a red, oozing lump of flesh. This is not an emergency, but if it does not come off easily, treatment is required.
This occurs with a certain probability regardless of how the umbilical cord is handled.

This is the quickest and most reliable way to heal. Tie the base of the granuloma with thread. In most cases, it will fall off and heal on the same day or the next day.
Applying a steroid ointment may gradually reduce the size.
In addition to umbilical granuloma, other diseases that can cause weeping on the navel include umbilical polyps (part of the intestinal wall remaining in the navel). If umbilical granuloma does not heal easily, you should consider these.
