This is a tumor (teratoma) that develops near the tailbone. It is often present during fetal development and may be diagnosed in the fetus. The tumor may protrude significantly from the outside of the body or may be buried within the body.
If a fetal diagnosis is made, a treatment plan must be made by obstetrics, neonatology, and pediatric surgery before birth.

Treatment requires surgical removal of the tumor. If the tumor is very large, it will affect the baby's overall condition from birth. In such cases, surgery will be required early after birth. If the tumor is not too large, surgery will be planned for when the baby has gained a little weight.
Tumors and surgery may cause problems with bowel movements and urination. There is also the possibility of recurrence, so we will continue to monitor for recurrence (tumor markers, etc.).
Even if a tumor is initially benign, it may recur as a malignant tumor, so caution is required.
