It usually begins with abdominal pain. In some cases, bleeding may occur, and the condition may be discovered through vomiting blood or bloody stool. In some cases, a hole may form in the stomach or duodenum, requiring emergency surgery.

To make a definitive diagnosis, a gastroscopy is required, just like for adults. A gastroscopy for children is performed while the child is asleep under anesthesia.
If the test reveals that you have Helicobacter pylori infection, you will undergo eradication treatment, which consists of oral medication.
