The chest wall contains ribs, costal cartilage, and muscles, and tumors that develop here are called chest wall tumors. There are various types of tumors, both benign and malignant. Benign tumors include neurofibromas and chondromas, while malignant tumors include osteosarcomas and fibrosarcomas.
For benign tumors, thoracoscopic surgery or combined chest wall resection is performed depending on the extent of the tumor. For malignant tumors, the characteristics of the tumor are evaluated, and treatment is carried out using surgery, radiation therapy, chemotherapy (anticancer drugs), or a combination of these in collaboration with radiation therapy and medical oncology.
