Sample testing department (blood, urine, etc.)
system
Specimen testing is testing of samples taken from the body, such as blood and urine. The Specimen Testing Department performs hematology, general, biochemistry, immunology, transfusion, and bacteriology tests, and also centrally manages outsourced testing. We aim to be a "non-stop, real-time laboratory" that can instantly report required test data at any time.
- Most tests, including blood, urine, biochemistry, immunology, blood transfusion, hormone, infection, and tumor marker tests, are rapid tests with immediate reporting.
- In order to report accurate data promptly, the entire process of test request, collection, measurement, and reporting is managed by computer. For most tests, the results are available to doctors on computer terminal screens in each department within the hospital as soon as they are available.
- We are focusing on urgent outpatient testing and pre-consultation testing. For rapid testing, results are generally available to view on a terminal in the outpatient examination room within 40 minutes of receiving the sample (within 60 minutes for some hormone and tumor marker tests).
- For frequently requested items, we operate two measuring devices to prevent delays in reporting due to equipment problems.
- The results of almost all tests submitted from the wards in the morning, including blood and biochemistry tests as well as special tests such as hormone, infectious disease and tumor marker tests, can be viewed on the terminals in the morning.
- Emergency testing is available on holidays and at night.
We have been approved for the calculation of specimen testing management surcharges (I) and (IV). (This evaluates our in-hospital testing system, quality control system, and 24/7 emergency testing response.) We are committed to improving patient services.
- 45 minutes earlier than the 9:00 am start of outpatient consultations Outpatient blood collection service We have started this system so that the results of urgent blood tests before appointments can be viewed in the examination room in a timely manner.
- To eliminate the need for hospitalized patients to fast in the morning for blood tests, early shift staff start accepting inpatient samples from 7:30 a.m. to accommodate early morning blood collection.
- We work in cooperation with the nursing department to ensure that outpatients who need both injections and blood draws can have the procedure done in one session.
- We are working to reduce the amount of blood collected by minimizing the amount of sample.
We participate in the Nutrition Support Team (NST) and carry out activities such as conducting nutritional indicator tests, screening for cases of malnutrition, and disseminating information.
We participate in the Infection Control Team (ICT) and the Antimicrobial Stewardship Support Team (AST), and are also focusing on infection prevention activities within the hospital, such as bacterial testing of the hospital environment and epidemiological surveys of antibiotic-resistant bacteria.
I teach courses on testing at diabetes and kidney disease classes.
