While most cancers are not hereditary, a predisposition to developing cancer can be inherited for some cancers. The Hereditary Disease Support Team provides support to individuals and their families who have a predisposition to developing disease due to congenital changes in genes and chromosomes, the blueprints of the body. Because changes in genes and chromosomes occur throughout the body, multiple medical departments must work together to provide genetic care, including diagnosis, treatment, and post-diagnosis follow-up, and the team works together to address this issue.

Expanding the possibilities of genetic medicine through collaboration with medical professionals from different backgrounds
We provide information about genetic testing and treatment to doctors in the hospital, and ensure that it reaches patients who need it. We believe that genetic testing is essential for future medical care, and we plan annual study meetings both within and outside the hospital to raise awareness of its necessity.

Discussions among members with different perspectives to provide patient-centered team medical care
I respond to inquiries from patients, provide information, hold study sessions for nurses in the hospital, and respond to inquiries. When listening to patients, I not only talk about their illness, but also draw out their thoughts and feelings, and I value sharing information within the team so that I can provide the best medical care and nursing.

We respond to a variety of inquiries, not only about illnesses but also about relationships and lifestyles.
I provide counseling (psychotherapy) and psychological testing to outpatients and inpatients. In counseling sessions aimed at reducing the mental burden caused by illness, I often see patients' expressions change from gloomy to smiling as I listen to their stories, which makes me very happy.

Supporting patients by leveraging knowledge gained through teamwork
We provide counseling support regarding genetics, from simple questions like "Is cancer hereditary?" to detailed explanations of hereditary tumors. Because hereditary diseases affect multiple organs, we listen to the opinions of doctors from various medical departments and strive to provide patients with some peace of mind through counseling.
