Careers
The Kitano Hospital Comprehensive Program is a clinical training program that integrates two programs: general internal medicine and elective.
Students can aim for a wide range of career paths, including those aiming for internal medicine, those who are undecided, general practitioners, emergency medicine, anesthesiology, radiology, etc.
The goal of clinical training is to acquire basic primary care skills as a doctor through 12 months of compulsory subjects in the first year (6 months of internal medicine, 3 months of emergency department, 1 month of anesthesiology, 1 month of obstetrics and gynecology, 1 month of gastroenterological surgery), 3 months of compulsory subjects in the second year (pediatrics, psychiatry, intensive care unit), and emergency duty training throughout the two years. For the remaining 9 months, students can choose either 1) 6 months at a partner hospital (5 months of free choice + 1 month in the community) and 3 months of free choice at our hospital, or 2) 6 months at a partner hospital and 2 months of free choice at our hospital + 1 month in the community, depending on their preference.
I believe that experiencing medical care in a different region during clinical training will be a valuable experience in one's long medical career.
Those who wish to study internal medicine are recommended to rotate through the internal medicine departments (nephrology, hematology, rheumatology and collagen disease, diabetes and endocrinology) during the elective period.
Through two years of emergency on-call training, community medical training, training in various internal medicine specialties, and joint internal medicine conferences (case study meetings/CPCs), students will acquire the basic primary care skills required of a physician, which is the goal of their initial training, as well as the diagnostic ability to diagnose and treat patients holistically and across organs.
