Project Overview

This project is an initiative by the Tatsuno Kofukai Medical Research Institute Kitano Hospital (hereinafter referred to as "Kitano Hospital"), a public interest incorporated foundation, to train new human resources in the medical field. With the aim of contributing to the development of society by promoting the advancement of medical research, this project will select recipients of support (hereinafter referred to as "Kitano Cadets") from among young researchers with a strong desire to research, provide them with clinical and research opportunities, and strive to develop excellent medical researchers who will be responsible for the next generation of medicine, as part of a human resources development system that provides the necessary support for this.

Eligibility requirements for recipients

1. Those who have a medical license (it is preferable to have a degree)
2. Those who have a strong desire to engage in medical research and clinical practice, and who are excellent in both character and achievements.
3. Must be under 43 years of age at the time of hire.

Support details etc.

1. Status, treatment, etc.:Full-time staff (physicians) at Kitano Hospital. However, the term of employment for support recipients is generally three years after employment.
2. Research support expenses:Based on the research plan, up to 2 million yen per year will be provided as startup research funds. However, efforts to secure research funds through public research funding such as Grants-in-Aid for Scientific Research from the next fiscal year onwards are required.
3. Mentorship:Recipients will be supported in their research by a Kitano Hospital research director or senior researcher who will act as a mentor.
4. Number of recipients:Approximately 5 people (planned)
5. Research location:In principle, the research will be conducted within the medical research laboratory.

Responsibilities of recipients of support

1. While working as a doctor at Kitano Hospital, he will also be involved in research activities at the Medical Research Institute. For this reason, we are considering reducing the burden of certain medical work.
2. In addition to working on original and challenging research aimed at promoting medical research, we expect you to actively seek external funding, such as public research funds, in order to become independent as a PI in the future. You will also be required to present the results of your research every year.
