Part-time regular employee system

When it becomes difficult to continue working full-time due to life stages such as child-rearing or elderly care, employees may be forced to leave their regular employee status and enter into a new employment contract. In Japan's working environment, if an employment contract is changed to a contract employee status, there is a risk of suffering significant disadvantages in the future. In April 2011, thanks to the efforts of our committee, a part-time regular employee system was introduced, which allows employees to continue working as regular employees.

Overview of the system

For more information, please contact the Human Resources Department.

When there was no part-time full-time employee system and employees had to switch to working as part-time contract employees, there were the following disadvantages:

  • Even though I still wanted to continue working, I had to write a letter of resignation.
  • Your retirement benefits will be liquidated when you switch.
  • Since temporary employment is a fixed-term contract of one year, future employment is uncertain.
  • If you are no longer a full-time employee, you may no longer be eligible for childcare or family care leave.
  • Licensed daycare centers and after-school care centers are primarily for full-time workers, so admission is given lower priority.
  • There is a negative image of work history

We will continue to closely monitor the content and results of the part-time full-time employee system and continue discussions to make it an even better system.
