Greetings

Greetings

With the launch of the new clinical training system for physicians in 2004, our hospital also began an initial training program, and many people who have started their careers as physicians have trained through our program. Since 2008, we have divided the program into four programs: "Comprehensive Internal Medicine Program," "Comprehensive Surgery Program," "Comprehensive Pediatrics and Obstetrics/Gynecology Program," and "Free Elective Program," and we accept applications nationwide, with written and interview tests determining the matching ranking.

Common to all programs, the first year involves rotating through six months of internal medicine (1.5 months each in cardiology, respiratory medicine, gastroenterology, and neurology), three months in the emergency department (two months in emergency medicine and one month in anesthesiology), and one month in anesthesiology.

The remaining two months of the first year vary depending on the program.

It is as follows.

In the second year, one month in community medicine, one month in psychiatry, and one month in the intensive care unit are mandatory for all programs.

It is as follows.

In all programs, there is a free choice period of at least one month per department, and residents can freely choose from multiple departments. Although the programs are broadly divided into four categories based on the trainees' aspirations, they are designed to provide the greatest degree of freedom possible.

In addition to the two months of training in the emergency department, students also receive two years of emergency on-call training (working on-call alongside medical and surgical residents, with the first two months as trainees), providing ample training in primary care. During the two months in anesthesiology, students can experience up to four surgical cases in one day, ensuring they are able to secure the airway and perform tracheal intubation reliably.

In addition, we hold a weekly afternoon "Emergency Case Conference," "Emergency Lectures" taught by staff from each department on the basics of emergency care, "Daytime Lectures" to supplement basic skills and knowledge, and "Core Lectures" by external lecturers. At core lectures, we sometimes invite prominent professors and researchers from outside the hospital. We believe that the training at our hospital not only provides a thorough understanding of primary care, but also allows students to come into contact with cutting-edge medical expertise in each department.

After completing two years of clinical training, students can continue on to three years of specialized training as a "resident physician." Programs vary depending on each department, with our hospital providing programs in which our hospital serves as the core training facility for departments such as internal medicine, pediatrics, anesthesiology, neurosurgery, otolaryngology, obstetrics and gynecology, and plastic surgery. After completing specialized training, students have a variety of options for their career path, including becoming a staff member at our hospital, continuing on to graduate school, or working as a staff member at another hospital, depending on their wishes, and our hospital supports their career development.

In terms of the training environment, the internal medicine and surgery departments are each located on one floor, and we have made it a point to have all the trainees gather in one place in the medical department. Another feature of our hospital is that you can easily consult with senior doctors and doctors from other departments in the medical department. Each computer terminal in the hospital has free access to E-Journals, PubMed, Up to Date, etc., so you can always check the latest literature.

Our comprehensive educational system is not limited to doctors; the nursing department also provides systematic education and training through its own unique program (Training Program:Nursing Department Reference). Furthermore, education and training is provided to clinical laboratory technicians and other departments. In addition, educational programs on various topics are held within the hospital, such as NST lectures, risk management seminars, and palliative care seminars.

As mentioned above, the hospital will continue to devote all its efforts to providing comprehensive training, and we sincerely welcome applications from people with a strong desire to learn from all over the country to the Kitano Hospital training program.
