Kitano Hospital has a total of 15 operating rooms. Each has its own unique characteristics, but here we will mainly focus on the operating rooms where cardiac surgeries are performed.

① Heart-lung machine
This device performs the functions of a person's heart and lungs while their heart is stopped during surgery. A clinical engineer is present to operate it.

② Hot air heating device
The operating table is warmed beforehand to reduce the feeling of coldness when lying down. This also prevents a drop in body temperature during surgery.

③Surgical light
The lighting fixtures hanging from the ceiling of the operating room have multiple light sources. This prevents shadows from being cast by the doctor's hands or medical instruments, and ensures that the area being operated on is brightly and evenly illuminated.

④ Monitor & Camera
The monitor is linked to the anesthesia machine and cameras that record the procedure. It is positioned to allow doctors to easily check camera images and the patient's temperature, respiration, blood pressure, and pulse.

⑤ Anesthesia machine
The monitor is linked to the anesthesia machine and cameras that record the procedure. It is positioned to allow doctors to easily check camera images and the patient's temperature, respiration, blood pressure, and pulse.

Point ①
In the latest operating rooms, power is supplied from an "overhead unit."
During surgery, many staff members move around, so we keep the floor clear to prevent cords from getting tangled.
Point 2
Kitano Hospital's state-of-the-art hybrid operating room
The "hybrid operating room" is equipped with imaging diagnostic devices such as CT scanners and angiography machines, and can display high-precision images (such as 3D reconstructed images) that are useful for surgery.
