Cancer cells can also be found in sputum through sputum tests. Furthermore, some lung cancers can be detected by high blood tumor markers. Tobacco smoke can also irritate and destroy the bronchi. This condition is known as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Pulmonary function tests are important for diagnosing this condition.
