*After receiving treatment at the Kyoto Imperial University School of Medicine Hospital (now Kyoto University Hospital), founder Masajiro Tatsuki felt a sense of gratitude towards medical professionals and donated funds with the aim of "conducting comprehensive medical research and contributing to the promotion and development of academics, science, technology, and culture." He established the Tatsuki Kofukai Medical Research Institute in November 1925 and opened Kitano Hospital in February 1928 as a clinical medical research hospital. However, during World War II, the hospital suffered severe damage in the Osaka air raids and was forced to close temporarily. After the war, it was seized by the occupying forces and was forced to close for five years, but reopened in 1950. Since then, with the support of many people, the hospital has overcome many challenges and is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year.
