Certified as a transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVI) facility

Our hospital has recently become a facility that performs "Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement" (hereinafter referred to as TAVI),Transcatheter Heart Valve Therapy Association (THT Association)We are currently preparing to perform the first TAVI case in September 2024.

Until now, surgery for aortic stenosis has involved opening the patient's chest, temporarily stopping the heart, exposing it, and performing an "aortic valve replacement" to replace the aortic valve, whose function has deteriorated due to aging or other factors, with an artificial valve. This surgery places a burden on the patient, as it requires opening the chest and temporarily stopping the heart.

However, with TAVI, which can now be performed at our hospital, the valve can be replaced with an artificial one via a catheter inserted by cutting a few centimeters through the anus, which significantly reduces the physical burden on the patient compared to conventional surgery, and the postoperative hospital stay also tends to be shorter than before.

There are various types of treatment, but our hospital will continue to strive to improve our facilities and staff skills in order to reduce the burden on patients as much as possible.
