On February 26, 2024, a disaster drill was conducted in the hospital ward, simulating a nighttime earthquake and fire.
At night, there are fewer staff members than during the day, so it is necessary to evacuate hospitalized patients efficiently with a small number of people while also ensuring the safety of the staff themselves. This time, the ward leader nurse, three ward staff nurses, and the head nurse on duty took the lead in reviewing the procedures for evacuating over 10 patient-like people to a safe location.
After the training, a physical therapist from the rehabilitation department gave a lecture on "How to evacuate immobile patients using sheets and air stretchers."
This training exercise has revealed various issues, so we will share the information with other wards and staff members in order to improve the disaster response capabilities of the entire hospital.
