Regarding GBS screening tests to detect Streptococcus agalactiae (Group B Streptococcus: GBS), which is known to cause severe GBS infection in newborns, several medical institutions across Japan, including our hospital, jointly evaluated the usefulness of the GBS detection method (enrichment method), which is mainstream in Europe and the United States, rather than the direct method, which is mainstream in Japan.
