Large-scale disaster response drill conducted for the first time in four years, assuming a Nankai Trough earthquake

Previous training session

The Medical Research Institute Kitano Hospital, a public interest incorporated foundation run by the Tatsuno Kofukai Foundation, will be conducting a large-scale disaster response drill on Sunday, October 15, 2023, simulating a Nankai Trough earthquake, in order to contribute to the local community by fulfilling its role as a medical facility with disaster response capabilities even in the event of an emergency.

Background and purpose of the training

Our hospital is located in the heart of Kita-ku, Osaka City, with the Yodo River to the north and many large buildings such as buildings and apartments nearby, so in the unlikely event of a major earthquake, we are required to respond in a variety of ways as a medical facility.2013We have been conducting large-scale disaster response training since the fiscal year, but due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic,2020As a result of this, the number of people with training experience has been decreasing, so we have decided to resume large-scale disaster response training from this fiscal year, with the aim of "building an organization that can contribute to the community" as a medical facility with disaster response capabilities in Kita-ku, Osaka City.

For this training, we have also received cooperation from Yukioka Medical Technology College (Kita-ku, Osaka; Principal: Akihiko Okuyama), an educational corporation of Yukioka Health and Hygiene Academy, located in the same Kita-ku, Osaka city, who will act as patients. By giving this experience to not only our hospital staff but also our students, who will be the leaders of the next generation, we hope to work together as a community to improve our disaster response standards.
