As a core cancer treatment hospital in Osaka Prefecture, we have opened a cancer treatment center so that all departments involved in cancer treatment can work together to provide advanced treatment to patients and create a comprehensive, cross-sectional medical system.

If you have any concerns or questions about cancer, please feel free to contact the Cancer Treatment Center.

Our hospital was designated as a "Center Hospital for the Treatment of Intractable Diseases" by Osaka Prefecture on November 1, 2018.

Intractable diseases are those that are difficult to treat fundamentally and have a chronic course. However, there are many diseases for which patients can lead a normal life if they receive high-quality and appropriate medical care.

In order to improve the quality of measures against intractable diseases in Osaka Prefecture, we intend to promote the provision of increasingly comprehensive medical care as a regional hub hospital.

Osaka Prefecture will select hospitals to collaborate on the treatment of intractable diseases – Osaka Prefecture Press Release

The winners of the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine were announced on Monday, October 1, 2018, and it was decided that Dr. Tasuku Honjo would be the recipient.

Dr. Honjo served as the 20th and 22nd Chairman of our foundation, the Tatsuki Kofukai, from 1996 to 2000 and from 2002 to 2004, respectively, and is currently a council member.

Until now, cancer treatment has mainly consisted of three options: surgery, chemotherapy, which involves administering anti-cancer drugs, and radiation therapy. However, thanks to the protein PD-1 discovered by Dr. Honjo, a new option called immunotherapy is being established.

Our hospital honors the achievements of Dr. Honjo and, as a medical research institute, is determined to contribute to the further development of medical care.

The health damage caused by long working hours for doctors has become a problem, and the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare has called for efforts to reduce doctors' working hours.

Therefore, in order to ensure the quality and safety of medical care provided to patients, our hospital has decided to, as a general rule, explain the medical condition of non-emergency patients (informed consent) during opening hours, as an effort to reduce the burden on doctors and shorten their working hours so that they can work without becoming exhausted.

Unless requested by the hospital, we may refuse to provide explanations at night or on holidays due to the convenience of the patient or their family, so we ask for your understanding.

Time for explanation of medical condition, etc.
