Regarding our hospital's selected medical expenses

Medical expenses selected at first consultation

Patients who do not have a referral letter from another clinic or hospital at the time of their first visit will be required to pay the above amount as "selected medical expenses at the time of first visit" in addition to the regular initial consultation fee and other medical expenses.
The following patients are eligible for first-time consultation:

  1. Those who are visiting our clinic for the first time
  2. Those who have not visited the hospital for more than six months due to personal reasons (excluding those who have only visited for a medical checkup or vaccination)

If you are a new patient to this hospital and do not have a referral from another medical institution, you will be charged a selective treatment fee (11,000 yen) in addition to the initial visit fee.

At the time of the patient's first visit, if there is any other medical malfunction, please refer to the medical information provided by the medical department. When visiting a hospital, we will cover the initial consultation fee, and we will cover the "selection fee" (11,000 yen).

Selected medical expenses at the time of follow-up examination

If you continue to visit our hospital after we have referred you to another medical institution in writing, you will be required to pay the above amount as "selected medical expenses at the time of follow-up visit" in addition to your regular medical expenses.

Overtime selected medical expenses

As a secondary emergency medical institution, our hospital accepts emergency patients 24 hours a day. However, among the patients who visit the outpatient clinic outside of these hours, there are quite a few who are not deemed to have an emergency (so-called mild cases), which has had an impact on our ability to provide prompt treatment to seriously ill patients, which is our original purpose. In order to improve this situation, we ask that you pay the above fee.

What are selected medical expenses?

This system was established as a result of amendments to the Medical Care Act, with the aim of dividing up functions among medical facilities according to their size and characteristics. By having patients receive initial medical treatment at local clinics and medical centers, and providing advanced and specialized medical care at larger hospitals, the system aims to streamline medical care by making effective use of limited medical resources and easing congestion at large hospitals.

What is a family doctor?

A family doctor is a doctor that you can go to immediately when you feel unwell and consult about your health. By seeing patients on a regular basis, doctors can quickly notice any small changes and decide that it would be better to have the patient examined and treated at a hospital with more advanced medical equipment and specialists.
A family doctor who can be consulted immediately when something happens is a reassuring presence for patients.

What is a medical information report (referral letter)?

This is a letter from the doctor in charge to the doctor in charge of the referring medical institution, detailing the patient's symptoms, medical history, test results, etc. Officially, it is called a medical information report, or a referral letter.
This form is created when requesting more advanced medical care or specialized tests, or when wishing to be transferred to another medical institution.
Each letter is worth 250 points (750 points if data etc. are attached at the time of discharge), and 750 yen for those who pay 30% of the cost.
