About us
I am pleased to announce that I have been appointed as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Kitano Medical Research Institute, a public interest incorporated foundation run by the Tatsuki Kofukai Foundation.
The Tatsuki Kofukai was founded in 1925 with a donation made by Tatsuki Masajiro to the Faculty of Medicine at Kyoto Imperial University (now Kyoto University) with the aim of contributing to comprehensive medical research. To achieve the Foundation's mission, the Medical Research Institute Kitano Hospital was established in Osaka. Thanks to the efforts of its predecessors, the Medical Research Institute Kitano Hospital has since overcome numerous obstacles and continues to provide the latest and best medical care to the local community, and has now grown into one of Japan's leading hospitals with 685 beds and approximately 1,600 staff members.
As we approach the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Tatsuki Kofukai, Medical Research Institute Kitano Hospital will continue to provide the latest, best medical care that puts patients first, aiming to be a hospital that protects the lives of everyone in the local community. Furthermore, we believe that our mission is to continue to carry on the spirit of the founding of the Tatsuki Kofukai, to conduct comprehensive medical research, contribute to the promotion and development of academic and cultural fields, and continue to play the role of a core hospital for highly advanced medical care that will nurture the human resources who will lead the next generation of medicine and healthcare in Japan.
Medical Research Institute Kitano Hospital hopes to continue to be a hospital that is loved by the local community. To that end, all staff will strive to provide safer and more reassuring medical care, and to be a hospital that listens to the voices of as many patients and their families as possible. We ask for your continued support.

I have been appointed as the Director of the Tatsuki Kofukai Medical Research Institute Kitano Hospital, effective October 1, 2022. Given the challenging environment surrounding hospitals and medical care, I feel a sense of responsibility.
Since its opening in 1928, Kitano Hospital has provided cutting-edge medical care for approximately 100 years, and has developed into a core hospital in Osaka with a solid foundation in the local community. In line with its founding history and philosophy, Kitano Hospital believes that its most important mission is to provide the latest and most advanced medical care and protect the health of the local community. To achieve this, the hospital functions
With the aim of further enhancement, we have taken over the plans of the previous hospital director, Mr. Yoshimura, and are renovating the main building, including expanding the intensive care unit (ICU), building a new day surgery room, renovating and expanding the first-floor community medical service center and admission/discharge support station, and relocating and expanding the blood collection booth on the third floor. We also plan to build and expand new operating rooms, including hybrid operating rooms, in the future. We hope that these renovations will improve convenience, comfort, and safety for patients.
Since assuming my post as Chief of the Pediatric Department in 2002, I have not only provided cutting-edge medical care in each pediatric specialty, but also accepted almost all emergency patients 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, practicing unrestricted medical care. In the adult specialty, we also provide highly advanced medical care. We believe it is our responsibility as a core hospital to accept all emergency patients, and the entire hospital is working to achieve this. However, amid the widespread COVID-19 pandemic, it has become extremely difficult to maintain a satisfactory level of general emergency medical care, highly specialized advanced medical care, and COVID-19 treatment. I deeply regret the inconvenience this has caused to doctors at local medical institutions and the local community. However, we will continue to work together as a team to meet your expectations. We appreciate your understanding and support.
