Nephrology covers a wide range of areas, including nephritis, electrolyte imbalances, conservative chronic renal failure, hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, apheresis, and kidney transplantation. Our hospital offers extensive experience with a wide range of cases across all of these areas. Regarding nephritis, we perform renal biopsies (approximately 100-150 cases per year) to diagnose and treat many cases, including chronic nephritis, nephrotic syndrome, collagen disease, and vasculitis. Regarding dialysis, we offer extensive experience with a wide range of cases, including dialysis initiation, outpatient maintenance dialysis management, management of hospitalized patients with dialysis complications, apheresis (plasma exchange, hemoperfusion, etc.), and peritoneal dialysis. We also provide vascular access creation and interventional therapy. Regarding kidney transplants, urology and nephrology work together as a team. While the number of kidney transplant cases is small, the nephrology department handles preoperative evaluation and long-term postoperative management, providing an opportunity to learn about transplantation.
