The Vision of Department of Hematology
 


For many patients with a wide spectrum of benign and malignant blood-related disorders, we provide expert care and comfort including state-of-the-art medicine such as autologous and allogenic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. Our promise is to provide the highest quality clinical care for our patients for themselves.
 
Specific Diseases
   


Clinical disorders of particular interest include:
Hematological malignant disorders ( acute and chronic leukemia, malignant lymphoma, multiple myeloma, myelodysplastic syndromes, adult T-cell leukemia/lymphoma ) Myeloproliferative disorders (polycythemia vera, essential thrombocytosis, hyper eosinophilic syndrome, myelofibrosis) , bone marrow failure disorders (aplastic anemia, paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria, pure red cell aplasia), coagulation disorders, lymphoploriferative disorders ( Castleman's disease, Kikuchi's disease ) and a variety of other benign and malignant disorders.

 
Our Features
   
  Department of Hematology treats around 150 patients with hematological malignancies each year. There are approximately 60 new cases of leukaemia, lymphoma and myeloma referred to the Department each year. Specialist diagnostic plan and prompt therapy are available within the department. There is a strong research commitment including participation in clinical trials using cell therapy.
The unit is a regional referral centre for bone marrow transplants, with approximately 10-15 procedures being carried out each year.
